Keeping busy at home

What have the kids been up to when they are not in school?  Sure, there are iPhone games and TV (Scooby Doo for Nicholas and wretched Disney shows for Katherine).  Katherine has been playing with the neighbors a lot and they have introduced her to "The Micheal Jackson Experience," evidently it's a game like Just Dance for the Wii.  Cool that she enjoys the songs and can sing along.

She has been playing outside a lot in the snow, even went out before school the morning after we got our first measurable snow of the season.  Cello lesson continue, so she practices several times a week.  As a matter of fact, she and I are heading out of town for a cello retreat this weekend.

Nicholas continues to build and destroy.  Lately he's been heavily into the Angry Bird: Knock on Wood Game. Not surprisingly he's a master builder and lets us sling the birds into his buildings.  He replicates what's on the cards and also builds his own creations, sometimes in the shape of a car (like in the Angry Birds smart phone game).

Nicholas also enjoys looking at Lego catalogs, again and again.  Surprisingly he enjoys "homework," which involves writing numbers and letters, cutting and pasting, things like that.  He does not like to color for more than a couple minutes at a time.

Last week he got crafty. I'm sure the first real snowfall of the season helped. He made this beauty all my himself - even cut the tiny orange triangle mittens.

He's also been making cakes and cupcakes
with Playdoh this past week
