Our first trip to the Northwoods

Last weekend we ventured 5 hours north to a little resort with 4 of Trevor's coworkers and their families. The setting was beautiful - many snowcovered evergreens surrounding a large snow covered lake. I took a few pictures in the early morning and late afternoon. The lighting was lovely, but I didn't have a tripod and don't know enough about my camera to really capture it, so I had to lighten up these pictures with photo editing software. The first is the view from outside our cabin. You can barely make out the lake and fog behind the trees.
Sunrise

A fog rolls onto the lake at sunrise,
eventually becoming thick and covering the whole lake
before dissipating when the sun comes up.

Katherine and Trevor cross country skied one afternoon. They both had never put skis on before and Katherine had a blast - guess she's a natural! Any know of somewhere around here where you can rent skis and go cross country? Katherine and Theresa borrowed some skates and went ice skating (yeah, below that's me hamming it up and skating on one foot; Katherine is in he purple). Again, her balance is amazing and she did a great job shuffling along on the ice. We even managed to squeeze in an afternoon at a waterpark - afterall, what's a vacation without some time in the water? The coolest part (no pun intended)- the hot tub was indoor/outdoor, so we ventured outside and soaked in the warm water while the outdoor temperature was about 12 degrees and it was snowing! A very surreal experience. In the evenings the kids allowed us to play some games, like 80s Trivial Pursuit ... makes me want to go out and buy 90s TP, a game in which we'd be a bit more competitive. ;-) Who wants to join us?
